Tavolynx
In development · Limited pilot slots

Senses what the table needs.

Fewer trips across the floor. No guest left waiting unnoticed. More revenue per table.

Tavolynx is a designer pendant light with a service sensor. It notices when a table needs attention, and your team gets a short cue on their phone. Processed on site, no cloud.

EvidenceStudy of data from 94,404 restaurant guests: longer waiting times went hand in hand with guests walking away, staying for a shorter time and returning later. Journal of Operations Management, 2018

The moment that matters

The guest is looking for a glance. Your team is at the other end of the room.

Friday night, a full house. Table 12 has an empty glass, table 4 wants to order, table 7 has been free for a while. Your team is giving everything, but nobody can look everywhere at once.

So people walk, guess and check. Guests wait for a glance that doesn’t come. New guests wait at the door for a table that is actually free. It costs nerves and revenue.

How it works

From the light above the table to a cue in the apron pocket.

All inside your venue
  1. 01

    The light

A designer pendant hangs above the table. Inside the shade sits a depth sensor. It measures distance and shape, not faces.

  2. 02

    The computer on site

A small computer in your venue analyses the sensor data. Images are neither stored nor transmitted.

  3. 03

    The service phone

Your team gets a short cue: which table, what for. No images, no names.

No cloud in between. The analysis stays in the building.

What Tavolynx notices

Four moments when a table needs you.

  1. Table free

The guests have left. The table can be cleared and reset before anyone is kept waiting at the door.

  2. Glass empty

A good moment to ask if they’d like anything else, without the guest having to turn around.

  3. Guest waving

Someone wants to order or pay. Your team knows, even when they’re looking the other way.

  4. Waiting time

A table is seated, but nobody has been over yet. Tavolynx gives a nudge before it gets awkward.

Which moments are recognised, and how reliably, is exactly what we are testing and refining with our pilot venues.

Privacy by design

GDPR-compliant – documentation included.

Tavolynx is designed to be GDPR-compliant: what happens at the table stays in the building. No video, no archive, no faces. And we supply the paperwork for your data protection along with it.

Processed on site
The analysis runs on a computer inside your venue. There is no cloud that sensor data is sent to.
No images stored
Images are neither stored nor transmitted. There is no recording that anyone could watch, share or lose.
Anonymous events only
Sensor data becomes a cue: table, reason, time. No face, no name, no personal profile.
For the table, not against the team
Cues belong to tables, not to staff. Tavolynx is made to take pressure off the floor, not to rate people.

Design

A good light, first and foremost.

Tavolynx should look like what it is first: a pendant light you’d be glad to hang over your tables. The technology disappears into the shade. The only thing on the light is its name, small and engraved.

We start with an industrial pendant for casual-dining concepts. A quieter modern version for hotels and fine dining is to follow.

  • FirstIndustrial: anthracite shade, brass rim, warm light on the table
  • LaterModern version, in planning
  • TechnologyDepth sensor in the shade, one cable per light, computer on site

The name, said ta-VO-links: tavolo is Italian for table. The lynx finds its way well at dusk. The light brings the glow.

For chains

One pilot area. Then branch by branch.

Tavolynx is meant for operators with many tables and several locations. This is how we picture the path. We work out the details with our pilot partners. Concept

  • Start small

One area in one branch. That is where real service shows what Tavolynx does for your concept.

  • Roll out to plan

Then branch by branch: same light, same set-up, same onboarding. We supply the data protection documentation for every location.

  • Central overview

We plan an overview of all branches in one place, with anonymous figures per table and location, not per person. How it is set up technically, we decide with you and your IT.

  • Fits your interior

A designer light that fits into your concept, rather than technology you have to hide. Talk to us early in the planning.

Pilot programme

Three steps to becoming a pilot venue.

Before Tavolynx goes into production, we are testing it with a small number of venues in real service, on busy nights. Pilot slots are limited.

  1. 01

    Conversation

15 minutes by phone or video. We get to know your venue and dining room and clarify what you want from the pilot.

  2. 02

    Set up the pilot area

Our team installs Tavolynx lights in one area of your dining room, sets up the computer on site and onboards your team in person. You get the data protection documentation with it.

  3. 03

    Review and decision

Together we look at what has changed in service. Then you decide whether and how to continue, based on an offer for your venue.

What pilot venues get

  • Tavolynx lights for one area of your dining room, set up by our team
  • The service app for your team, with on-site onboarding
  • The complete data protection documentation for your venue
  • A direct line to the development team. Your experience shapes the production model.

What we ask for

  • Candid feedback from everyday service
  • One named contact in your venue
  • Willingness to try something new during live service

What operators ask

Short answers to good questions.

Is it compliant with data protection law?

Yes, Tavolynx is designed to be GDPR-compliant: processing on site, no images stored, only anonymous events per table. We supply the documentation: templates for the record of processing activities and the DPIA, guest information with a notice sign, information for staff and the works council, and the data processing agreement where applicable.

How much work is the installation?

One cable per light, plus a computer on site. Our team handles the set-up in the pilot area.

What does Tavolynx cost?

The plan: you buy or lease the lights and add a software subscription. We prepare a specific offer for your venue after the pilot. We are not publishing prices yet.

How will my service team react?

Tavolynx is made for the table, not against the team: cues refer to tables, not people, and nobody is rated. We onboard your team on site and supply information for staff and the works council. During the pilot we tune the cues to your team’s feedback.

Can Tavolynx connect to our POS?

A connection to POS systems is planned. Whether and how it works with your system is something we agree on together during the pilot.

Is there a camera in the shade?

Yes, technically the sensor is a depth camera, and we say so openly. It measures distance and shape in the room. The analysis runs on a computer inside your venue, and images are neither stored nor transmitted. The only things that leave the system are short cues like “Table 7 is free”. That is exactly what the guest information we supply says, too.

Does it recognise guests or staff?

No. Tavolynx doesn’t recognise faces or names. Cues refer to tables, not to people.

Does Tavolynx need a cloud?

No. The analysis happens on site. Exactly how the cues reach your team’s phones is something we set up with you and your IT during the pilot.

Can I buy Tavolynx yet?

Not yet. Tavolynx is in development. We are currently offering a limited number of pilot slots.

Are there other designs?

An industrial pendant comes first. A modern version for hotels and fine dining is planned.
